How to Tell If a Spiritual Reader Is Right for You
By China · October 13, 2026

A simple practice for discerning who is energetically aligned with you
Not everyone can read you, just like not every gifted person has the same gift. We’re many variations of the same cloth. Some are called to the altar, while others imitate.
Good and evil exist in every realm. Just because someone talks to God doesn’t mean they aren’t being used by the devil. So how do you know who is aligned with you?
Start with your own body
The next time a tarot reader shows up on your feed:
- Pause the video.
- Close your eyes and take a deep breath.
- Say a silent prayer, or set the intention to feel and know whether this message is for you.
- Press play with your eyes closed.
- Notice what you feel. Is it a yes or a no?
Feeling vs. intuition
They’re different, yet so similar.
Think of sadness, then anger, then something happy. Each one creates a feeling in your body, and that’s good, but none of them last.
Intuition is different. When you know something, and it isn’t anxiety, stress, or depression, it’s a feeling you can’t quite define. It’s the niggling that tells you what to do. It usually feels like almost nothing, sometimes like a quiet, beautiful alignment. That’s the yellow brick road. Take that one.
It isn’t based in anything, but you felt it. Listen to that.
What I’ve seen in my years of readings
I’ve worked with clients who went to other readers hoping to be handed the key to a perfect life. If you’re looking for a cheat code, a reader isn’t what you need. A therapist is.
Life is meant to be experienced above all else. The journey is how you find what you want and what you don’t want. The job of any spiritual person is to help you find and connect with the parts of yourself that lead to your own road. We aren’t meant to be that road for you. It’s your life, your experience, your choices. Free will is real, and we are here to clarify, confirm, and support you along the way. Anyone offering something other than that, be concerned.
Red flags
- Instant curses or blockages. If someone tells you right away that you have a curse or a blockage and asks for an astronomical amount of money to remove it, I can guarantee they aren’t really there to help you.
- Making themselves your answer. A real reader points you back to yourself.
- Fear, urgency, or “pay me to fix it.”
- Absolutes. Look for possibilities and choices instead.
- Never saying “I don’t know.”
A word on spell work
All spell work has a cost. It requires a sacrifice. Imagine clearing out your old closet to make room for new clothes: your new life will cost you your old one. Sometimes people hire someone to do a spell that supposedly has “no risk,” but universal law is still there, whether it collects now or later.
Remember: harm to none, love to all.
Your ritual, your sacrifice. Are you willing to pay? And I don’t mean money.
Questions to ask yourself afterward
- Do I feel calmer and clearer, or more anxious and rushed?
- Does this person leave me with my power, or make me feel I need them?
- Does what they said sit right with my moral compass?
- Do I feel like myself around their energy?
Light and dark are both needed for balance. The goal is knowing when to use each, and when to be different shades of grey. Your moral compass will tell you exactly why you’re in the boat you’re in.
